We are less than 3 weeks to departure. We are so very thankful for your thoughts and prayers and support thus far.
We have fielded a few questions about what exactly we are planning for our Rio San Juan ministry. First, our main goal is to be a blessing to the people (and especially the children) of Rio San Juan, DR. We like how our pastor said it yesterday: we want to answer all of the bad news stories with good news stories.
Upon reaching the DR, we will be meeting with the Mayor of Rio San Juan as well as the Principle of the local elementary school. Both of these leaders are well-respected in RSJ and are excited to see the community center reopen. Most importantly, they will express what the needs of this community are. Subsequently, we, along with the Manna staff will determine exactly our programs will be.
Our heart specifically is a sports-focused kids program several days each week as well as family events throughout the month. Currently, there is nothing.
We are very excited to keep you updated on how your blessings are answering bad news stories with good news stories.
